Our History

1983

Reg Bell & John Clements started the business under an umbrella arrangement with Benfield, Lovick and Rees & Co.

1987

Lloyd's broker status was granted.

1988

Bell & Clements begins to offer in-house underwriting.

1989

Open Market activities begin.

1996

Bell & Clements Underwriting Managers launched.

2002

Bell & Clements Inc formed in US.

2005

Great Lakes Reinsurance (UK) PLC partnership launched.

2007

Bell & Clements acquired by Munich Re Group.

2009

Launch of real time data processing platform, The Bridge.

2019

Bell & Clements becomes part of the newly formed Munich Re Specialty Insurance.

2021

First Professional Lines products launched.
