Mike Kerner

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Michael Kerner became Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bell & Clements Limited in October 2019. Mike is also the President and CEO of Munich Re Specialty Insurance. In this role he leads an organization within the Munich Re Group targeting specialty commercial insurance business in North America.

Prior to joining Munich Re, Mike was Executive Vice President and Head of Risk Management and Strategy for Everest Reinsurance. Before his time at Everest, Mike was a member of the Group Executive Committee and CEO, General Insurance for Zurich Insurance Company.

Mike is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Nick Ash

Chief Executive Officer

Nick Ash is Chief Executive Officer of Bell & Clements Limited. He joined Bell & Clements in 2016 and took over CEO responsibilities in January 2017.

Nick was previously the founding partner of Grosvenor Brokers and oversaw the growth of the business and its subsequent sale to AssuredPartners, Inc. becoming CEO of AssuredPartners London in 2015.

He commenced his insurance career in 1988 and has extensive experience of the London, European and Bermudian marketplaces.

Chet Shah

Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Chet Shah is Deputy Chief Executive Officer. He joined Bell & Clements in 1996 from Deloitte, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and was an Audit Manager in its insurance group. Chet has been involved in all financial aspects of Bell & Clements’ growth and development.

Chet is a Fellow of the ICAEW and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Manchester.

Mesut Hincal

Chief Financial Officer

Mesut Hincal is Chief Financial Officer. He joined Bell & Clements in 2023 with over 20 years of experience working in the Re(Insurance) sector in senior Financial positions. Mesut joined from Munich Re Specialty Group (MRSG) where he held the role of Head of Finance. He has also worked across other Munich Re entities including Digital Partners and Roanoke International Brokers Limited.

Mesut holds an MBA degree from the University of Applied Sciences Kempten, Germany.

Chief Underwriting Officer

Mike Kyriacou is Chief Underwriting Officer and has overall responsibility for the company's day-to-day underwriting as well as its managed underwriting functions.

Mike joined Bell & Clements in 2002 having previously worked in the Lloyd's market for over 25 years, initially as a claim’s manager and then as a lead underwriter for a number of Lloyd's syndicates. He spent his first two years at Bell & Clements as a resident in the US helping to establish the Bell & Clements Inc. office in Reston, VA, and assisting the company develop its underwriting management capabilities.

Dawn Harding

Chief Broking Officer

Dawn Harding is Chief Broking Officer and has over 35 years’ Lloyd’s binding authority experience. She is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Lloyd’s US Binding Authority department and joined the Executive Board in 2013.

Dawn joined Bell & Clements in 1989, having previously worked for another Lloyd’s broker handling the production and placement of Canadian binding authorities.

Mark Balcombe

Chief Operating Officer

Mark Balcombe is the Chief Operating Officer, and he has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company.

Mark joined Bell & Clements in 2001 and has project led many of the business’ major IT initiatives, including implementing a broking system and migrating paper files to a document management system. He was appointed an Associate Director in 2007. Mark joined the executive board as Chief Technology Officer in 2019 before being appointed Chief Operating Officer of the company in 2020.

Prior to joining Bell & Clements, Mark worked for 17 years in the insurance technology sector for a leading insurance software vendor. Mark’s experience spans all aspects of the insurance technology sector, from programming and technical support through to account and project management. Mark has worked on many international customer accounts and with a number of London Market insurance brokers.

Bharat Mepani

Chief Innovation Officer

Bharat Mepani is the Chief Innovation Officer for Bell & Clements and is responsible for managing the Software Engineering, and Data Analytics teams.

Bharat has been instrumental in designing, enhancing and managing Bell & Clements’ data processing and analytics system, The Bridge. He works closely with customers and their software vendors to obtain validated real-time rating, pre/post bind and claims data via XML/JSON and provides in-depth insurance analytics to both internal and external audiences.

He joined Bell & Clements in 2002 as a Software Engineer and was promoted to Development Manager in 2007 and Associate Director in 2011. Bharat joined the Executive Board in 2019.

Bharat has a BSc (Hons) Degree in Computer Science.

Martin Lewis

Chief Risk, Compliance & Legal Officer

Martin Lewis is Chief Risk, Compliance and Legal Officer. He is responsible for the oversight of the risk and compliance function within the business. He has more than 30 years of London market insurance experience.

Martin joined Bell & Clements in 2014. Previously, he worked for a number of Lloyd’s brokers, covering various classes of business, in roles including Technical Director, Operations Director and finally before joining Bell & Clements as Compliance Officer.

Martin Lewis

Graham Lindus

Chief Underwriting Operations & Technical Officer

Graham Lindus is the Chief Underwriting Operations & Technical Officer and is responsible for the production and administration of Binding Authorities, Certificates of Insurance and Open Market placements.

Graham joined Bell & Clements in 2001, as a Senior Technician, before being promoted to Associate Director in 2011. Graham joined the Executive Board in 2020.

He has worked in the insurance broking industry for over 40 years and has a wealth of market experience.

Graham Lindus
